Universal Serial Bus – USB
USB is a standard released in January 1996 and was designed to replace the wide array of legacy connectors available from previous computing generations. The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) governs the standards of USB technology.
Universal Serial Bus 2.0 – USB 2.0
USB 2.0 generation was released in April 2000 and added a much higher signaling rate of 480 Mbit/s and named High Speed or High Bandwidth, in addition to the USB 1.x Full Speed signaling rate of 12 Mbit/s. USB 2.0 specifications also added a variety of device connectors such as Micro-USB, which is still used today. This version also provided specifications for battery charging at a sustained 1.5 AMPS up to a maximum of 5 AMPS.
